Don Toliver
Caleb Zackery Toliver (born June 12, 1994 in Houston , Texas ), known as Don Toliver , is an American rapper and singer. In 2019 he became known through his song No Idea and the label project Jackboys .
biography
Don Toliver's first release was in May 2017 the mixtape Playa Familia, produced together with his friend Yungjosh93 . But it wasn't until his solo songs I Gotta and Diva later in the year that he became known to a wider public, and in spring 2018 Atlantic Records signed him. More singles were released and at the beginning of August Donny Womack's first own mixtape was released .
At the same time, the Houston rapper Travis Scott became aware of him and invited him to work on his next album, Astroworld . The album, also released at the beginning of August, achieved top international placements. Toliver's feature single Can't Say hit the US Top 40 and was one of three platinum songs from the album. Scott also recorded him on his own label, Cactus Jack Records .
After his first tour and several festival appearances, Don Toliver had his first own success in May 2019 with the song No Idea , which also reached platinum status and was able to place in the charts not only in the USA but in many other countries. Contributing to its success was that it became a popular background music for over a million TikTok videos. There were also further collaborations with Eminem on the album Music to Be Murdered By and on Nav's album Good Intentions as well as on the label project Jackboys . Travis Scott recorded the album of the same name with four members of his label, including Toliver, and reached number 1 in the US charts at the beginning of 2020 and numerous top 10 positions internationally.
In addition, Don Toliver worked on his own album debut. Heaven or Hell was released on March 13, 2020. Stylistically, it is somewhere between trap , R&B and pop. It rose to number 7 in the US and was also a success internationally.
