Christian Freilang

Christian Freilang (born October 10, 1959 in Munich ) is a German art historian .

Life

Christian clearance studied art history, classical archeology , historical auxiliary sciences and library science in Munich, Bonn and at the Free University of Berlin, where he met with a 1990 dissertation on the northern French Rayonnant gothic doctorate was.

From 1987 to 1991 he was assistant or suppléant maître assistant for older architectural history at the Ecole d'architecture at the University of Geneva . From 1991, clearance was working as a research assistant at the Art History Seminar of the University of Göttingen , where he after postdoctoral fellowship of the DFG and the German Historical Institute Paris in 1999 with a work of architectural theory habilitated . He then worked as a senior assistant at the University of Göttingen until he became Professor of Art and Architectural History at the Art History Institute of the University of Frankfurt in 2003 . 2012 moved to the Art History Institute of the Free University of Berlin .

His focus is on the architectural history of the Middle Ages and the 19th – 20th centuries. Century, especially in Germany and France, as well as architectural theory .
