Love on Myself ( English for “love for me”) is a song by the German DJ Felix Jaehn , in cooperation with the British pop singer Calum Scott .
Creation and artwork
Love on Myself was written jointly by Andrew Bullimore, Felix Jaehn, Vincent Kottkamp, Tom Mann and Josh Record. The production was carried out through the collaboration of Jaehn and Kottkamp, as co-producer Mike Spencer supported the production. Jaehn and Kottkamp were also responsible for the instrumentation (keyboard and drums) and the programming. In most of these tasks, the duo was also supported by Spencer, who also played the drums, worked as an additional keyboardist and was especially responsible for the bass programming. Spencer was also responsible for mixing the piece. The mastering took place under the direction of the Austrian sound engineer Nikodem Milewski . Cam Blackwood, Lorna Blackwood and Martin Hollis acted as sound engineers, with L. Blackwood only responsible for the vocals.
On the cover of the single you can see Jaehn, next to the artist name and song title on the right edge. You can only see his upper body, while his head is tilted slightly to the left and he is pulling on his necklace with his left hand . He wears a black jacket and a T-shirt in rainbow colors underneath. His right half of his body is torn away like a piece of paper, instead of the missing right half of his body, you see a caricature of Jaehn sitting on a mountain top. The first release of Love on Myself took place as a single download on June 28, 2019 by the music label Virgin Records . In an interview with the Stuttgarter Nachrichten , Jaehn revealed that he wrote Love on Myself a year ago and had been looking for a singer for it ever since. One of the reasons why his choice while on Calum Scott had fallen was that this also as Jaehn last year as bisexual outed have. It was important to Jaehn that it was someone he could identify with. The music video for Love on Myself was shot in Berlin and premiered on July 15, 2019 on YouTube . In terms of content, the music video should reflect the current, personal and musical journey of Jaehn, in which he steps into the next chapter of his musical career, which should revolve around real artistic expression and musical integrity. The video focuses on both Jaehn and Scott moving "gracefully" through a lavender field.
