Love on Myself ( Felix Jaehn feat. Calum Scott)

Calum Scott (born October 12, 1988 in Kingston upon Hull ) is a British pop singer . He became known in 2015 as a participant in Britain's Got Talent .

Career

Calum Scott grew up in his native Hull in the north east of England. He gained his first musical experience as a drummer. It was only his sister, who was an active singer herself, that made him give it a serious try as a singer. She enrolled him in the local newspaper Hull Daily Mail's star search competition in 2013 . Scott won the talent contest and tried only as a singer in a pop band that is in line with Maroon 5 as Maroon 4 designated. He was also half of the duo Experiment , which released the single Girl (You're Beautiful) in 2014 .

A year later he and his sister applied for the casting show Britain’s Got Talent . While Jade Scott was eliminated from the auditions, Calum was directly selected by juror Simon Cowell with his interpretation of Dancing on My Own , a 2010 hit for the Swedish singer Robyn . He then clearly won the semifinals, but was only sixth in the final after a weaker performance.

After the competition, the Englishman decided to quit his job as a town hall clerk and take his singing career seriously. In the spring of 2016 he released the song Dancing on My Own as a single and video. To do this, the song was used in the seventh season of the TV series Vampire Diaries . Initially, the single was barely in the top 40, but in August it climbed to the top 10 and topped out at number 2. It went platinum for 600,000 units sold in the UK. The song was then released internationally, it reached the top 5 in Australia and Sweden, among others, and at the end of the year also entered the charts in German-speaking countries. The video for the song reached over 353 million views on YouTube , and the recording from the casting show over 227 million views.

On June 28, 2019 Scott released the single Love on Myself together with the German DJ Felix Jaehn . In terms of content, the piece takes up the themes of “self-acceptance” and “self-love”. After the piece initially missed the charts, the piece finally made it into the official German single charts after two months and became Scott's second chart hit after Dancing on My Own in Germany.
