Jermaine Stewart

Jermaine Stewart (born September 7, 1957 in Columbus , Ohio - † March 17, 1997 Chicago , Illinois ) was an American pop singer . He became known in the second half of the 1980s through hits like We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off , Get Lucky and Don't Talk Dirty to Me .

Career

Stewart first caught on in the 1970s as a dancer on the television show Soul Train . He later became a substitute singer and dancer for various artists including The Chi-Lites , The Staple Singers , Shalamar and Culture Club . In 1988 Stewart had two top ten hits in Germany with Get Lucky and Don't Talk Dirty to Me .

In 1988, he starred in an episode of the Miami Vice series , where he performed his hit Don't Talk Dirty to Me in front of prison inmates (which led to rioting and prisoners breaking out).

In 2003 the title We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off was included in the list of the 100 greatest one-hit wonders by the American broadcaster VH1 .

Jermaine Stewart died in 1997 of liver cancer as a result of the immune deficiency disease AIDS .
