Krzysztof Józef Nykiel

Krzysztof Józef Nykiel (born February 28, 1965 in Osjaków ) is a Polish Roman Catholic priest .

Life

Krzysztof Józef Nykiel entered the seminary in Łódź as a student in 1984 and completed his studies in 1990 at the Theological Academy in Warsaw with the title of Master of Theology . He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Łódź on June 9, 1990 . After working in pastoral care, he worked from 1995 to 2002 at the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Care in Health Care . During this time in Rome he studied canon law and received his doctorate in 2001 from the Pontifical Gregorian University . He was named chaplain to His Holiness that same year and Honorary Prelate to His Holiness in 2010.

From July 1, 2002, he worked as a collaborator in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and, from December 18, 2009, as Assistant Secretary of the International Commission of the Inquiry into Medjugorje . On December 30, 2010 he became a member of the College of Prelates-Clerics of the Apostolic Chamber and from January 5, 2011 he was advisor to the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Care in Health Care.

He was the postulator of the beatification and canonization of Wanda Malczewska and Maria Julitta Ritz . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 26, 2012 as regent of the Apostolic Penitentiary . He speaks Polish, Latin, Italian, English, German, Spanish and Russian.
