Flow path

The river has its source west of the Roest estate . It runs north of Dollrottfeld , Süderbrarup and Brebel and south of Schegerott , Wagersrott , Norderbrarup and Böel until it forms the Loiter Au with the Boholzer Au , which flows into the Schlei .

In the period from 1851 to the German-Danish War in 1864, the brook partially formed the border between the areas with German and Danish school language . The background was formed by the language rescripts from 1851, with which the Danish government sought to stop the language change from Danish to German in southern Schleswig . Up until the 19th century, Angel Danish was still used as a colloquial language in fishing and swans , but it was increasingly being replaced by High and Low German . High German played a role as the only school and church language. With the language rescripts of 1851, Danish was to replace German as the sole language of instruction in areas where both German and Danish were widespread. The church language should alternate between German and Danish. However, many parents felt that the rescripts were compulsory. It is said from the village of Böel that many parents at that time did not register their children in the Böel elementary school, but on the south side of the stream in order to avoid the Danish schooling
