Blame It on the Rain is a song by Milli Vanilli in the year 1989 , that of Diane Warren written and directed by Frank Farian was produced. The song was first released on the US version of the debut album All or Nothing , in Europe it was released as a remix on the album Girl You Know It's True .

useful information

Diane Warren originally wrote the song for The Jets , but they decided at the last minute not to record it. She then played it to Clive Davis of Arista Records , who was looking for new songs for Milli Vanilli. Diane Warren didn't know Milli Vanilli and wanted her song to be sung by Whitney Houston , but Davis chose Milli Vanilli. His plan was to replace four pieces of the European version with newly recorded songs for the US version of the debut album All or Nothing . In addition to a cover version of It's Your Thing by the Isley Brothers , Frank Farian also recorded Blame It on the Rain . Unlike the predecessors Girl You Know It's True and Baby Don't Forget My Number , a Roland TR-808 was used as a drum computer for the first time .

It was released on July 13, 1989, and it was her last number one hit in the United States just before her ghost singer scandal . Diane Warren, author of the song, said that she was little affected by the scandal, as she as a songwriter does not care who sings her songs , all that matters is that she likes the result.
