Criticism because of advertising contract

From March 2011, Lierhaus became ambassador for the TV lottery Ein Platz in der Sonne , succeeding Frank Elstner . ARD program director Volker Herres said he had assumed that Lierhaus was a "particularly credible ambassador" for the ARD television lottery.

The alleged amount of the fee for Lierhaus led to resentment and numerous cancellations of subscriptions. According to Mario Czipull, the spokesman for the TV lottery, to the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung , the TV lottery has recorded a large number of cancellations by subscribers since the advertising contract became known, which was well above the average of the usual departures. Czipull confirmed that many subscribers justified their withdrawal with the large amounts being discussed in public. Spiegel put the fee at 450,000 euros per year; However, the amount was not confirmed by ARD or the lottery.

On October 28, 2013, the German Lottoblock and Lierhaus announced that the last program would run on December 29, 2013. From 2014 onwards, the aim was to present the people and institutions in need that are supported by the television lottery.
