German Paralympic Media Award

The German Paralympic Media Award is an annual journalist prize awarded by the German Social Accident Insurance since 1999 (with the exception of 2014/2015) . The name is based on the Paralympic Games .

Outstanding reports and analyzes as well as interviews and other journalistic forms of reporting on disabled sports are awarded . What is decisive is the precisely researched, competent and generally understandable presentation.

The German Paralympic Media Award was presented in three categories until 2013:

For the award ceremony in 2016, the categories were expanded to five:

The GPMA was not awarded in 2014 and 2015.

  • 2012
    • Print / Photo category: Men's Health magazine for its “Our Heroes of London” article. Five Paralympians and their sport are presented in impressive texts and images.
    • TV / radio category: Matthias Berg , ZDF. He has been co-host of the ZDF Paralympics reporting since the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney.
    • Category Online: sportschau.de . In the video blog “London 365”, the Paralympians Jürgen Schrapp, Annabel Breuer, Carmen Brussig and Michael Teuber reported alternately on their way to the Paralympics.
    • Special award: The film “Intouchables”, German title “ Pretty best friends ”. The awards went to Philippe Pozzo di Borgo and Abdel Sellou, who were role models for the film heroes, and the production company Quad.
