Werner E. Klatten

Werner E. Klatten (born August 20, 1945 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German manager. He was managing director of Sat.1 and CEO of EM.TV . He has been chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Sporthilfe since 2010 and a member of the supervisory board of Altech Advanced Materials AG since November 2019.

Life

Werner Klatten studied until 1973 law . He then worked as a lawyer in a Hamburg law firm until 1976 . From 1977 to 1984 he was the chief legal officer of the tobacco goods manufacturer Martin Brinkmann AG . In 1984 he became a board member responsible for marketing at Martin Brinkmann AG. In 1985 the same company appointed him CEO. In 1988 he moved to Sat.1 (then still Sat.1 GmbH) as chairman of the management board . Six years later he became managing director of the Spiegel publishing house , where he was responsible for the “Markets and Revenues” division. In 2000 he became CEO of SpiegelNet AG. In 2001 he moved to EM.TV AG, now Sport1 Medien AG, as CEO . Since September 2008 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Since December 1, 2008, he has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Sporthilfe . Klatten is a member of the Board of Trustees of the DFL Foundation .

Werner Klatten was married and has a son. He is the brother of Susanne Klatten .

On February 1, 2019, the Federal President announced that Werner E. Klatten had been awarded the Order of Merit on the ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
