Honorary lock keeper

Honorary lock keeper is a Hamburg award from the Congregation of Alster lock keepers SC

The award goes to the people who symbolically “open the locks for the Hanseatic city”. According to the company, the award is a "merit mark" and is awarded together with a certificate. The honorary title is one of the most important awards of the Hanseatic city that are not officially awarded. The award winners come from a wide variety of public areas such as sport, media, business or politics and are selected in a closed meeting by an eight-person committee, which includes the managing director of ATG , Gabriele Müller-Remer. The award has traditionally been presented in the Alsterpavillon since 1982 .
