Annemarie Dose
Annemarie "Ami" Dose (born August 29, 1928 in Sörnewitz ; † April 28, 2016 in Hamburg ) was a German philanthropist . She was the founder of the Hamburger Tafel and holder of the Federal Cross of Merit .
Life
Annemarie Dose was born in Sörnewitz in 1928 in the Saxon administration of Meißen and grew up there with her grandparents. From 1952 she lived in Hamburg- Volksdorf , where her husband died in 1993. To distract herself from her grief, Annemarie Dose, who was only called “Ami”, founded the Hamburger Tafel in 1994 as the third restaurant in Germany. After she had initially picked up the bread herself from the bakery and distributed it to those in need, it gradually succeeded in building a network of volunteers. A short time later, the volume of donations increased so that refrigerated vehicles had to be used and a warehouse was set up. In the meantime, more than 20,000 needy people in Hamburg are cared for by the food and material donations of the Hamburger Tafel. Over 100 volunteers with 13 refrigerated vehicles collect around 40 tons of food every week and distribute it.
In 2009, the founder of Hamburger Tafel was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, for her commitment.
The Annemarie Dose Foundation
At the beginning of 2002 Annemarie Dose founded the Annemarie Dose Foundation for the Hamburger Tafel . According to the tax code, it is not possible for non-profit associations to build up long-term reserves. The foundation made it possible to build up financial reserves for the long-term security of Hamburger Tafel eV.

In 2019 a documentary film about the life of Annemarie Dose was released. "Ami" tells the story of the Hamburger Tafel mainly through interviews with descendants and contemporaries. The film was shown as part of the Hamburg Film Festival 2019 in the Koralle Kino in Hamburg-Volksdorf, where Annemarie Dose lived for many years.
