Gerrit Braun (born December 21, 1967 in Hamburg ) is a German entrepreneur and founder of the Miniatur Wunderland .

Life

He came in 1967 as the son of the businessman and author Jochen W. Braun and the teacher Birgit Drechsler (formerly Braun) geb. Andresen to the world. After graduating from the Helene-Lange-Gymnasium , he studied business informatics at the FH Wedel .

During his studies he took over the Voila discotheque in Hamburg-Eilbek in 1990 , which he ran with his twin brother Frederik Braun and his business partner Stephan Hertz until 2001 . During this time he founded the techno and trance label EDM Records with Frederik Braun, Stephan Hertz and other partners , on which u. a. Gary D. and DJ Gollum released.

In 2001 he separated from Voila and EDM Records and founded the “Miniatur Wunderland” together with Frederik Braun, his father Jochen W. Braun and Stephan Hertz. Today he is the managing director of the Miniatur Wunderland. In the exercise of this activity, he stood out for his social commitment, for which he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, among other things .

He also gained fame through the Gerrits Tagebuch blog , in which he documented the construction of Knuffingen Airport on video. The first 26 episodes were later released on DVD. This DVD was sold more than 10,000 times in 2010. In the Miniatur Wunderland he is also the spiritual father of the further developed car system , the lighting control, the air conditioning system and Knuffingen Airport.

In 2015, together with his brother Frederik Braun, he was heavily involved in the Hamburg Olympic application. Supported by the vision of realizing the 2024 Olympic Games in Hamburg as the Games of Sustainability and Coexistence, he met opponents of the application during the application phase in order to develop requirements and goals. Among other things, the two were responsible for the Olympic rings in Hamburg's city park (Guinness world record for the largest rings made out of humans) and a chain of lights with around 20,000 participants around the Alster . They were recognized by the DOSB for their commitment.

He is married with two daughters and one son.
