The Arena Berlin is a multifunctional event site in the Berlin district of Alt-Treptow . The area with the address Eichenstraße 4 is located on Flutgraben opposite the Osthafen . The large hall, a former ABOAG depot, is a listed building .

history

The large hall was built in 1927 as a depot of the Allgemeine Berliner Omnibus AG (ABOAG) according to plans by Franz Ahrens and was then one of the largest self-supporting halls in Europe. In 1928 the ABOAG became part of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). In 1993 the BVG gave up the location, which has been used for cultural purposes since 1995. In 2000 the hall was extensively renovated . In the following years, other rooms in the area were included and z. B. set up the Badeschiff . The Technoclub Arena Club has resided in the former boiler house since 2007 .

structure

The arena itself is a hall that is used for trade fairs , concerts, cooperate events, exhibitions and similar major events. Up to 9,000 guests can be accommodated here on 6,500 m².

administration

The arena was operated by Kulturarena Veranstaltungs GmbH until 2011 . "ARENA BERLIN Betriebs GmbH" has been running the arena Berlin hall since October 2012.
