Winter bathing ship

Badeschiff converted into a sauna in the ice of the Spree

For use in winter, the operators converted the facility into a winter bathing ship for the first time in autumn 2005. According to the plans of Gil Wilk Architects with Thomas Freiwald , the basin and the jetty of the bathing ship were provided with pine wood arches, which were covered with a double-walled PVC membrane. Inside the covers there is a sauna area with two saunas, a swimming pool, a bar and relaxation areas. In the spring, the overvoltage was reduced again and the bathing ship was used again as an outdoor swimming pool. The conversion to a winter bathing ship received the BDA architecture award “ Nike ” in the category “price and performance” in 2007 . However, this conversion is currently no longer used.
