Susanne Lorenz

Susanne Lorenz (* 1969 in Hanover ) is a German visual artist and has been a professor of visual arts at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2010 .

Lorenz studied fine arts as well as art and architecture studies and major art at the HBK Braunschweig and at the HdK Berlin as well as at the Technical University of Berlin . From 2001 to 2006 Susanne Lorenz taught at the Lette-Verein Berlin, from 2006 to 2010 she was a professor at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts . Susanne Lorenz has been a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2010, where she is responsible for the basic teaching of the visual arts.

The artistic works of Susanne Lorenz testify to a space-related and interdisciplinary approach, in addition to objects and installations, large-format works are created for public space. Examples include a. the installation to Japan (1999/2000) in the Sophienhöfen in Berlin, Tagbouquett in Wiesbaden (2006), Self- Similar (Lantern) in Wiesbaden (since 2010), Suchbilder in the JVA Wrietzen (2004), Line of Beauty - the fifth sewage treatment plant in River Seseke near Kamen / Bergkamen (2010 / under construction). Internationally known is the Badeschiff , a barge in the Berlin Spree that has been converted into a swimming pool, which Lorenz designed in 2002 together with AMP Arquitectos and Gil Wilk as part of the con_con exhibition (curator Heike Catherina Mertens). In 2004, the Badeschiff was opened by Kulturarena eV at Berlin's Osthafen and is still in operation today.
