Klaus Goeke

Actually, Klaus Göke (born January 16, 1944 in Neuhaus ; † February 11, 2011 in Bochum ) was a theoretical physicist and professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

Life

Göke was born towards the end of the Second World War in Dortmund in the Ruhr area, but the family soon went to Paderborn to be less exposed to the bombing. In 1950 his father was employed at the Hamm Higher Regional Court . Göke attended the old-language grammar school Hammonense , where he passed his Abitur in 1962. He studied physics at the Universities of Tübingen and Freiburg and received his diploma in Freiburg in 1968. He worked from 1968 to 1972 as a research assistant at the University of Münster , where he received his doctorate in 1972 with a paper on the influence of pair correlations on the rotational states of light atomic nuclei . From 1971 he was a scientist, from 1981 to 1988 department head at the Jülich nuclear research facility . In 1977 he received his habilitation at the University of Bonn , his habilitation thesis concerned the time-dependent Hartree-Fock theory for collective core movements . In 1985 he was appointed professor at the University of Bonn. In 1988 he was appointed full professor for theoretical physics at the Ruhr University in Bochum.

Göke's research area was hadron physics .

Göke was married and had two children.
