Heinz Prüfer (born November 8, 1948 , † March 18, 2007 in Berlin ) was a German guitarist .

Life

Prüfer grew up in northern Germany. After the second grade, he moved to East Berlin with his parents . At the age of twelve he received a guitar from his parents and played in a school band.

Examiner was discovered by The Ruffians youth orchestra . After being renamed by the City Councilor for Culture, they toured under Rhythm Mixer and played Beatrhythmus. The blenders received several bans and fines. Prüfer later played with some Berlin bands, such as the Berlin Quartet and Joco Dev .

After a year and a half of military service , he passed his secondary school diploma, completed an engineering degree and worked for Stern Radio Berlin. Prüfer played in Express and Reggae Play . In 1988 he toured together with Reinhard Fißler and Andreas Raab in the Fißler Gang . Their repertoire consisted of a mixture of acoustic instruments and electronics which were thematically determined by reggae.

With the fall of the Berlin Wall , Prüfer's musical career stagnated, until in 1992 Klaus Renft and Thomas Schoppe wanted to revive the Renft combo and signed Prüfer as guitarist.

On March 18, 2007, Heinz Prüfer had a fatal accident on the way back from a performance in Altdöbern . He was buried on April 2, 2007 in the St. Andreas Cemetery in Hohenschönhausen .
