Gerd Christian (born July 16, 1950 in Greifswald ; actually Gerd-Christian Biege ) is a German pop singer .

Life

Gerd Christian grew up in Greifswald with his brother Holger Biege . In 1960 he moved to Berlin with his family . There he learned the trade of a construction worker . After three years of training at the Friedrichshain Music School , he received his professional certificate as a singer in 1973.

His career began in 1973 as a soloist with the Fritzens Dampferband . With the title Sag ihr auch , composed by his brother Holger and written by Fred Gertz , Gerd Christian achieved his solo breakthrough in 1979. The title sold over a million times. It is one of the most frequently covered GDR hits since German reunification ; New versions are u. a. by the Kastelruther Spatzen , Bernhard Brink , Leonard and the Montanara Choir .

The Amiga record company chose him to sing the hits Gloria by Umberto Tozzi , So bist Du by Peter Maffay and Santa Maria by Oliver Onions and Roland Kaiser for Amiga publications.

Gerd Christian made regular appearances in television programs such as Ein Kessel Buntes , There is music in it or Bong .
