Irmgard Schmelzer
Irmgard Schmelzer (née Kirchhoff, second marriage to Hermand; born June 19, 1921 in Frankfurt am Main ; † September 20, 2002 in Kassel ) was a German long jumper .
At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , she was fourth with 5.90 m and missed bronze by just two centimeters.
In 1952 she became German champion . She set her personal best of 5.94 m on August 10, 1952 in Kassel .
The athlete with the nickname "Irmel" started for KSV Hessen Kassel .
