The Gmina Połaniec is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Staszowski of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name with about 8,200 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality borders the Vistula in the southeast . Its main town is at the confluence of the Wschodnia and Czarna Staszowska , near their confluence with the Vistula.
history
From 1975 to 1988 the municipality belonged to the Tarnobrzeg Voivodeship .

The Połaniec power plant is one of the largest power plants in Poland. It is located east of the city on the Vistula and is powered by hard coal and biomass.
