Markus Gründel

Markus Gründel (born January 19, 1972 in Hanover ) is a German geocacher and specialist book author . He is considered Germany's first full-time geocacher. He is also the operator of a museum for " travel bugs ".

Life

The trained banker Gründel has been fascinated by hiking and handicrafts since childhood. In 2001 he switched to the outdoor department of a sports shop, where he first came into contact with geocaching. Besides Germany, his trips mainly take him to Scandinavia . In 2007 Gründel published the non-fiction book Geocaching: Basiswissen für Draussen [sic!] In Conrad Stein Verlag , the 7th edition of which appeared in 2018. He is the operator of a museum for "travel bugs", in which visitors can look at special Geocoin rarities.

Gründel lives in Hanover .

Gründel is the inventor of a multifunctional tool that was developed as an aid for geocaching. The current version is sold commercially under the name "Gründel-Tool II". It can be used as a tape measure , bottle opener , fishing rod , stylus for touchscreens and key rings and contains printed aids for deciphering .
