The SG 74 Hannover is an amalgamation of seven clubs, six of which have their origins in Linden . The oldest parent club is MTV zu Linden , founded on November 5, 1874 , from which the Linden workers' gymnastics club split off in 1879 . The latter later changed his name to Turnerschaft Linden . The remaining parent associations were founded at the beginning of the 20th century. It all started in 1903 with LSV Alexandria , followed by TV Jahn Linden three years later. 1914 arose from the youth club Linden-south of the gym club Linden . In 1923 TSV Linden and DSC Hannover were founded. The 1930s were marked by mergers. In 1931 the TSV Linden , the TV Jahn Linden and the Turnerschaft Linden merged to form the Turngemeinde Linden . A few years later, MTV merged into Linden and Turnklub Linden into Lindener TV , before it merged with LSV Alexandria in 1938 to form Lindener TSV . With the merger of the Lindener TSV and the gymnastics community Linden one year later to form TSG 74 Hannover , a large club with over 1,200 members was created. In 1940 TSG merged with DSC Hannover to form DTSG 74 Hannover . Today's club was founded in 1965 after the merger with the national sports club Vorwärts Linden .

Handball

The handball players of the then DTSG 74 Hanover qualified in 1943 for the final round of the German championship in field handball . After victories over Eimsbütteler TV and Reichsbahn-SV Münster , the team reached the quarter-finals. There the Hanoverians were eliminated after a 4-6 defeat against Kieler TV . After the end of the Second World War , the DTSG became Lower Saxony champions in 1949, but failed in the semi-finals of the North German championship at SC Urania Hamburg .

Soccer

The footballers took part in the first-class Gauliga Südhannover-Braunschweig in the 1944/45 season and were assigned to season 1 of the Hanover group. There the team managed three wins with 22: 1 goals before the game was canceled.
