The 47th German Athletics Championships took place on August 9 and 10, 1947 in the Müngersdorfer Stadium in Cologne . It was the second athletics championships after the Second World War and the last before the division of Germany . However, very few athletes from the Soviet occupation zone took part. The pre-war competition program has not yet been fully achieved. So there was no decathlon and the women’s 200-meter run did not take place either. The marathon was like km shortened last year to a distance of 20, so rather resembled today's half marathon . For the first time in eleven years there was also a run in the woods . With a few exceptions, all competitions were held in Cologne as part of the event.

The following championship competitions took place at different locations on different dates:

The following overviews summarize the medal winners. A more detailed overview with the first six in each of the individual disciplines can be found under the link German Athletics Championships 1947 / Results .
