successes

In the mid-1950s, the club had Ingrid Werner, an outstanding junior in athletics. In 1954 she became German youth champion in the forest run over 800 meters and in the same year set a GDR record in the javelin throw of the female youth A. In 1955 the 4-by-100-meter relay won the championship title in female youth B with its best performance in the GDR. In the early 1960s , badminton athletes began to collect successes. Right at the 1st GDR team championship in 1960 they became runner-up. Three bronze places followed from 1961 to 1963. In 1966 and 1967 they again took third place. A long dry spell followed until 1988, when they won bronze again. In the meantime, the club was always present despite the lack of team medals. The women's handball team played in the 1975/76 season in the GDR Oberliga, but finished last with only one point from 26 games and was relegated straight away. EBT drew attention to itself particularly in the field of youth work, as evidenced by three GDR team titles among the juniors and four among the students. At the beginning of the new millennium, the badminton department regained its strength. Two German runner-up titles in 2005 and 2006 as well as two third places in the following two seasons were a visible expression of the resounding skill level of the capitals. In 2009 they lost to 1. BC Bischmisheim in the play-off final with 3: 5 (at home) and 4: 4 in Bischmisheim. In 2011, the EBT Berlin was able to secure the title of German champion for the first time in the club's history against the 1st BC Beuel . This title could be defended in 2012 and 2013.
