Klaus Basdorf

Klaus Basdorf (born July 13, 1943 in Berlin ; † June 7, 2013 there ) was a German badminton player .

Athletic career

Klaus Basdorf was one of the pioneers of the East Berlin badminton sport. In 1962 he was runner-up in men's doubles with Gerd Pigola at the GDR junior championships . A year later he was runner-up in this discipline among adults with Hartmut Münch . There was also silver for him this season with the team from Post Berlin. This place could be defended in the following year, while in 1965 it was only enough for bronze. He added two third places in men's doubles and mixed matches to his track record in the same year. In 1967 he won his last medal at GDR championships with silver in mixed with Ruth Preuss .

Klaus Basdorf lived in Berlin until his death, where he also acted as managing director of Basdorf, Lampe & Partner GmbH.
