The ASV Zirndorf ( General Sports Club Zirndorf ) is a sports club from Zirndorf in Central Franconia with departments for football , handball , table tennis , gymnastics and the social department “Steadfast”, which is made up of theater and the Cyrenesia carnival society .

history

The club was founded on April 16, 1946 from the Zirndorfer clubs TSV 1861 Zirndorf , 1. FC Zirndorf, SpVgg Zirndorf, ATSV Jahn Zirndorf and the cycling club Solidarity Zirndorf, which existed before the Second World War . From its foundation, the club used the TSV 1861 site on Jahnstrasse. Two years later, TSV 1861 Zirndorf broke away from ASV and became independent again. After leaving, the sports grounds on Jahnstrasse had to be cleared and the club moved to Schwabacher Strasse, which was then called Leichendorfer Strasse, on the former site of 1. FC Zirndorf. In 1950 the club acquired the property and began building a sports home. In 1959 Albert Roth won the German championship in freestyle wrestling . From 1962, the club's football department played with the first team for three years in the Bayern League , the top amateur class at the time. After that, the club had to gradually relegate to the district league. In July 2010, the first team in football was promoted to the regional league. In July 2009 the youth soccer department of the youth partner club of SpVgg Greuther Fürth became . The football men made it into the national league in the 2011/12 season. In the 2012/13 season the first team played in the new Northeast regional league . For the 2012/13 season there was relegation to the District League Middle Franconia 1.

The handball department has been playing under the name HG Zirndorf since 2000. In the 2011/12 season, the women were promoted to the Bayern League.

The ASV Zirndorf is very successful in Mardi Gras. The Steadfast Department represents the colors of ASV Zirndorf and the city of Zirndorf under the name Cyrenesia.
