Karl Kluge (athlete)

Karl Kluge (* 1925 ; † April 24, 2010 in Bremen ) was a German athlete. He was four times German champion, including in the 1500 meter run .

biography

Kluge trained at Werder Bremen from 1940 and into the 1950s . He ran over 400 m, 800 m, 1000 m and 1500 m. At the German youth championships in Breslau he was first over 800 m in 1: 55.5 min.

Over 1 mile he still holds the Bremen state record from 1952 today (as of 2019). Among other things, he had the following placements:

He was married to the successful athlete Helga Kluge geb. Huhn, who ran over 100 m and won the women's 4 x 100 m relay at the German Athletics Championships in 1949 , together with Marga Petersen , Hannelore Mikos and Lena Stumpf , in 48.3 s, with a new German record time at that time . The season was also German champion with her in 1951.
