The handball players of the Post SV Munich

The PSV handball players celebrated their first successes on the large field. Between 1950 and 1959, the German championship went to the Bavarian capital four times, most recently in Speldorf against RSV Mülheim.

It was never enough for national championship honors in indoor handball, but two participations in the final round of the German championship are also here. In 1958, at the first German indoor handball championship, which was held in Frankfurt am Main , the Postlerinnen played in a group with TV Vorwärts Frankfurt (3: 0) and SV 04 Düsseldorf (2: 3). In the semi-finals, despite a 1-0 break lead, the end came against the eventual champions Eimsbütteler TV (1: 3). The game for third place was finally won against SSC Südwest Berlin 7-2. A year later, the PSV reached the final, which was held on March 1, 1959 in Hamburg . 1,000 viewers attended the match between the Munich women and Eimsbüttel TV. And as in the semifinals of the previous year, the Hamburg women won 3-1 and secured the German championship. In 1960 and 1961, as Bayern champions, 1. FC Nürnberg blocked the way for the Munich women. In 1962 they were able to qualify again for the finals for the "Süddeutsche", but in the decisive game in front of their home crowd they lost 3: 4 to the Baden representative VfR Mannheim . In the years that followed, 1. FC Nürnberg's dominance in Bavarian and southern German handball became increasingly overwhelming, and when the southern German regional league was launched in 1970, Post SV Munich was no longer there. In the 2008/09 season, the PSV women play in the Landesliga Süd.
