The 11th German Athletics Championships took place in Berlin on August 16, 1908 . Exceptions were again the 100 km street walk - June 18 in Kiel - and the 40 km marathon - May 20 in Berlin. However, the marathon was not officially part of the championship competitions until 1924, but was carried out independently as the "German Marathon".
There were no changes in the competition program compared to the previous year. It is noteworthy that athletes from SC Komet Berlin won five of the eight titles awarded. Two of the other three championship titles went to Berlin. Paul Nettelbeck won the middle distance over 1500 meters after winning the "German Marathon" over 40 km almost three months earlier.
