Hilde Sommer

Hilde Sommer (born September 6, 1917 ) is a former German discus thrower .

At the European Championships in 1938 , she won the silver medal with 40.95 m, almost four meters behind Gisela Mauermayer .

She set her personal best of 44.33 m on July 10, 1938 in Breslau . Sommer never won the German championships, in 1938 she lost second to Mauermayer, in 1939 , 1940 and 1941 she was third behind Mauermayer and Anna Hagemann . In 1946 behind Hagemann and in 1947 behind Marianne Schulze-Entrup , she came second twice.

Sommer belonged to the sports club VfB Breslau , after 1946 she started for MTV Braunschweig.
