The TSG Balingen soccer team has been playing in the Regionalliga Südwest since the 2018/2019 season .
Beginnings of footballers
In 1907 four Balingen footballers founded a community of players, games were held by agreement and in teams of six. The first competitions took place from 1909. In 1920 the club joined the TG Balingen as their sports department. In the form of a clean divorce , the footballers separated again from the TG Balingen and founded the Association for Lawn Games (VfR) 07 Balingen. In 1933 the VfR joined the TG as their football department.
Football department from 1945
In April 1945 the occupiers disbanded the TG. The re-establishment took place in November 1945. As SV Balingen , the footballers were promoted to the South Württemberg regional league in 1948. At that time this was the highest amateur league directly under the Oberliga Südwest . In the 1948/49 season, SV was ranked 9th in the North Group and 10th in the 1949/50 season.
As part of the structural reform, the club was included in the 2nd Amateur League Württemberg in 1950 and has been called TSG Balingen since the 1950/51 season . The first descent from the 2nd amateur league in 1963 was followed by direct resurgence. The club held up to relegation in 1977 in the 2nd amateur league. In 1990, the TSG rose from the district league and returned in 1993 from the district league A back to the district league. Just one year later, the team rose to the state league - the former 2nd amateur league - on. In 1995 TSG achieved their third promotion in a row to the Württemberg Association League. In 2005 and 2006 the TSG won the runner-up, but failed in the promotion round of the association league champions. 2007 succeeded the championship and thus the promotion to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . By winning the championship of the Baden-Württemberg Football League in 2017/18 , TSG Balingen was promoted to the Southwest Regional League for the first time .
In the Regionalliga Southwest 2018/19 TSG Balingen finished in 11th place. In the following 2019/20 season , which was declared prematurely ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the club took 17th place in the final table. However, given the special circumstances, relegation was not included.
