Torsten Chmielewski (born January 21, 1968 in Oberhausen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Club career

In his youth, Chmielewski played with his twin brother Stefan for VfB Speldorf , Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and MSV Duisburg , from which the brothers moved to Bayer 05 Uerdingen in 1983 . On November 29, 1986, he made his Bundesliga debut on the 16th matchday of the 1986/87 season in Uerdingen's 4-1 away win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . After five years as a Bundesliga player, Torsten Chmielewski was relegated with Bayer 05 Uerdingen at the end of the 1990/91 season . In the following season he rose directly to Uerdingen as the champions of group north of the 2nd Bundesliga . For the 1993/94 season Chmielewski moved to Arminia Bielefeld . After this season he joined SV Darmstadt 98 . In 1997 Torsten Chmielewski played for a few months for VfR Mannheim before moving to FC St. Pauli in October of the same year . Two years later he went to SSV Reutlingen 05 , with whom he was champion in the Regionalliga Süd in his first season and thus achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. In 2002 he moved to TSG Balingen , where he ended his playing career a year later.

Coaching career

After his playing career, Chmielewski was coach of VfL Pfullingen . In 2005 he took over this role at VfB Bodelshausen . Four years later he stopped his coaching activity to concentrate on his job as a talent scout.

National team

"Toto" was regularly appointed to the youth national team by the DFB from the U-15 national team. He played three times in the U-18 team with his brother Stefan. On February 28, 1990 Torsten Chmielewski completed his only game for the German U-21 national team when he came on as a substitute for Thomas Strunz at halftime in Germany's 1-0 away win against France .
