The FC-Astoria Walldorf is a football club from Walldorf in the Electoral Palatinate .

history

1. FC 08 Walldorf was originally a department of SG Walldorf-Astoria. In 1952 the soccer players were separated from the entire club and the pure soccer club 1. FC 08 was founded. A minority continued soccer within the SG and started again in 1953 in the B-Class Heidelberg. 1. FC 08 took over the league from the old club during the 1951/52 season and played in the 2nd amateur league Rhein-Neckar. Table tennis players later joined the new club, as a number of footballers were also active table tennis players. In 1975 TTG 47 Walldorf was separated and founded.

1. FC 08 played a total of eleven years in the Association League North Baden between 1982 and 1993. After being relegated twice in a row, they found themselves in the Heidelberg district league in 1994/95. There they met for the first time since 1970 in points games against the footballers of the SG Astoria. The initiative for the “reunification of all Walldorf footballers” came from the department management of SG Astoria. The first discussions under the neutral leadership of the then alderman and former mayor Heinz Merklinger took place during the winter break of the 1994/95 season. The aim of the merger, which took place on February 15, 1995 between 1. FC 08 Walldorf and the football department of SG Walldorf-Astoria 02, and was finally decided on March 3, 1995 at the general meetings of both clubs, was to promote higher-class football in Walldorf to establish. After a very difficult first few years, this goal was achieved.

In the 2006/07 season, FC-Astoria Walldorf won the championship of the Baden Association League and was promoted to the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga . In 2014, the club rose to the regional league in the southwest relay for the first time. In 2014 and 2016 he won the Badischer Pokal and thus qualified for the DFB Cup . While they lost 3-1 to Hannover 96 in the first round in 2014/15 , a surprise came in 2016/17 . After the Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98 (1: 0) and the second division VfL Bochum (4: 3 a.s.) were thrown out of the competition in the first two rounds , they were only eliminated in the second round with 5: 6 a.s. against the second division Arminia Bielefeld .
