Roland Dickgießer (born November 9, 1960 in Bruchsal ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Roland Dickgießer spent his entire professional career at SV Waldhof Mannheim between 1978 and 1994 . His name still stands for the most successful times of the Electoral Palatinate .

In 1983, Dickgießer was promoted to the Bundesliga with the Waldhöfern , in which he was a leading player until relegation in 1990. The best place in 1985 was the sixth place, in which Klaus Schlappner's team narrowly missed participation in the UEFA Cup . A year later, Dickgießer reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup with Waldhof Mannheim , but lost to Bayern Munich .

As a player of the U-21 national team , Dickgießer reached the European Championship final against England in 1982 .

As a trainer, he looked after the second team at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , where he also worked as an interim trainer for the regional league team (after one month replaced by Lorenz-Günther Köstner ) after Hansi Flick was dismissed in 2005 . Until 2011, Dickgießer was the coach of the upper division FC-Astoria Walldorf . At the same time, he works for the Walldorf-based software manufacturer SAP and has been the sports director of FC-Astoria Walldorf since February 2016.

Roland Dickgießer is the honorary captain of SV Waldhof Mannheim.
