Nico Hillenbrand (born May 25, 1987 in Heidelberg ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Nico Hillenbrand began his career at VfB Rauenberg near Heidelberg. Through the youth of SV Sandhausen he came to the youth of Karlsruher SC , where he played in various youth teams for a long time. In the 2002/03 season he moved to the youth team at Borussia Dortmund , where he initially played in the youth field. For the 2004/05 season he made the leap to the second team of Borussia, with whom he had to cope with relegation to the Oberliga Westfalen, however, without having played a role. In the league season 2005/06 he became a regular player and played 19 games. After returning to the Regionalliga Nord , Hillenbrand was able to defend his regular place and was even part of the professional squad; Hillenbrand did not play in the Bundesliga in 2006/07, while he made 32 appearances in the Regionalliga. For the 2007/08 season Hillenbrand was initially relegated to the amateurs, but was still part of the first team squad several times during the season and made his Bundesliga debut on December 15 in the BVB game at VfL Wolfsburg , when he was in the 67th minute of the game for Nelson Valdez when the score was 3-0 against BVB. Hillenbrand has been back at SV Sandhausen since the 2009/10 season. There he signed a contract until June 30, 2011. After one season, he slipped into the reserve team of SV Sandhausen and left the club in the summer of 2011. After he was initially a club he in January 2012 joined the Oberliga side FC Astoria Walldorf on . With FC-Astoria Hillenbrand rose to the Regionalliga Südwest in 2014 and also took part in the DFB Cup . In the 1: 3 in the first main round against Hannover 96 he scored the consolation goal. In 2015 he moved to the upper division SC Hauenstein . With the club he failed as runner-up in the promotion round to the regional league . In summer 2016 he returned to FC-Astoria Walldorf. There Hillenbrand scored 1-0 in the second round of the DFB Cup in the game against Bundesliga club Darmstadt 98 and surprisingly made it into the second round of the DFB Cup with regional league club FC Astoria Walldorf. He was then elected Man of the Match by the DFB .
