Swabian Gymnastics Federation

The Swabian Gymnastics Federation (STB) is the largest sports association in Baden-Württemberg . He is a member of the Württemberg State Sports Association (WLSB) and the German Gymnastics Association (DTB).

history

The STB was founded on May 1st, 1848 in Esslingen , making it the oldest continuously existing sports association in Germany. The Esslingen lawyer Theodor Georgii was considered to be the leading figure when the company was founded. It sees itself as the umbrella organization for "versatile gymnastics" as a cross-disciplinary recreational sport and as a professional association for competitive and top-class sport. He feels responsible for all types of sports, disciplines and forms of movement that have their historical origins in gymnastics and gymnastics.

Currently there are fifteen Turngauen registered around 715,000 members in 1,800 gymnastic and sports clubs (as of 2020). Wolfgang Drexler has been president since 2012 . Matthias Ranke is the head of the Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt office and managing director.
