The Twang Dudes were a rock band that played heavily American-influenced folk and country rock in Berlin in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

UE Ford (aka Uwe Effertz) founded the Twang Dudes as a vehicle for his songs and as a musical experimental field. The band was part of the Berlin roots rock scene, which concentrated around Café Swing on Nollendorfplatz and often shared the stage with befriended bands such as Loup Garou , Lowlands, The Beatitudes and American underground greats such as Green on Red and Giant Sand .

The Twang Dudes are an important training camp for the Berlin music scene. After leaving the band, Christian Hartje became the bass player for Element of Crime . Janek Siegele (aka jayrope ) is the central figure of the Kliklak music network and Cindia Knoke currently plays bass for Farin Urlaub , Joachim Witt and the Space Hobos . Uwe Effertz has lived in the USA since 1993 and works as a producer, sound engineer and musician in Austin / TX, Tucson / AZ and in New Mexico . Uwe Effertz and Janek Siegele have been running the band Hardman since 2001 .

A side project of the Twang Dudes , the Gloomlifters is still occasionally active as an acoustic live band.
