LG Eintracht Frankfurt

The LG Eintracht Frankfurt is an athletics community consisting of the athletics departments of the Frankfurt clubs Eintracht Frankfurt , FSV Frankfurt , TG 04 Sachsenhausen and TSG Nordwest 1898 . The competition clothing is red, white and black.

history

At the instigation of the city of Frankfurt, the LG Frankfurt was founded in 1970 with the athletics departments of several Frankfurt clubs. Successful athletes from the LG Frankfurt were for example Gerd Nagel and Ralf Salzmann .

In order to bundle and strengthen athletics in the Rhine-Main area , LG Frankfurt and Eintracht Frankfurt merged on January 1, 2000 to form LG Eintracht Frankfurt. Founding members were Eintracht Frankfurt, TSG Nordwest 1898, TSG Fechenheim, FSV Frankfurt, TG 04 Sachsenhausen and LC Main Taunus.

Successful athletes

The most prominent “alumni” are the 800-meter Olympic champion from 2000 Nils Schumann , who had a starting pass for LG Eintracht Frankfurt from 2005 to 2007, and Tim Lobinger , who started in 2002 for the LGEF.

The currently best-known and most successful athletes are Betty Heidler (2007 World Champion in Osaka, 2009 Vice World Champion in hammer throw) and Ariane Friedrich , 2009 European Indoor Champion and third at the 2009 World Championships in high jump.

At the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg six athletes of the LG took Eintracht Frankfurt in part: In the women's Betty Heidler and Kathrin Klaas , in the hammer throw took places 5 and 6, and Korinna Fink with the 4 x 400-meter relay Fifth has been. For the men, Kamghe Gaba started over 400 meters and also in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Sebastian Gatzka was also nominated for the 4 x 400 meter relay, but only ran the 400 m individual race. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, LG Eintracht Frankfurt was represented by three athletes. Betty Heidler won gold in a hammer throw. Kathrin Klaas was eliminated in the hammer qualification, Kamghe Gaba started in the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Seventh place for Ariane Friedrich meant the best placement of an LGEF athlete at the 2008 Olympic Games . Betty Heidler took 9th place in the hammer throw, Kathrin Klaas and Kamghe Gaba could not qualify for their finals.

At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin there were two medals for LGEF athletes. Betty Heidler won silver in the hammer throw and Ariane Friedrich bronze in the high jump. With Kathrin Klaas (4th place in the hammer throw), Sergej Litvinov (5th place in the hammer throw) and Pascal Behrenbruch (6th place in the decathlon) three other athletes reached places in the top eight.

In 2010, Betty Heidler became European hammer throw champion in Barcelona , Ariane Friedrich took third place in the high jump. Kamphe Gaba came fourth with the 4 × 400 m relay of the DLV. Kathrin Klaas took part in the hammer throw, Claudia Rath in the heptathlon. In the same year, Martin Günther took eighth place in the high jump at the World Indoor Championships in Doha.

At the World Athletics Championships 2011 in Daegu / KOR, Pascal Behrenbruch and Jan-Felix Knobel, two decathletes from the ranks of the LGEF took part. They finished 7th and 8th. Gesa Felicitas Krause finished 8th in her first World Cup participation.
