The son of a German mother and a Chadian father, Gaba began as a track and field athlete at SKG Frankfurt in 1996 and switched to LG Eintracht Frankfurt as a youth , where he began his sporting career as an all -rounder . He celebrated his first success in 2001 when he reached fifth place at the U18 World Championships in eight-battle. From 2002 he began to concentrate on the 400-meter run and won gold at the 2003 Junior European Championships with the German 4-by-400-meter relay . In 2004 he qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens as third in the German Championships . There he ran into seventh place with the German 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 2006, Gaba was the first German champion over the 400 meters in Ulm in the new personal best time of 45.47 s after winning the relay title in the previous year, which he was able to repeat in Ulm . With this time he clearly undercut the required norm for participation in the European Championships three weeks later in Gothenburg, but retired there in the semifinals and took fourth place with the German relay in the final. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , the relay was eliminated in the intermediate run.

In 2010 he was again German champion over 400 meters, but missed the norm for the European Championships in Barcelona in the same year by two hundredths and narrowly missed the podium in fourth place with the relay as four years earlier in Gothenburg.

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 , he won the bronze medal with the 4 x 400 meter relay, but was eliminated four weeks later at the Olympic Games in London in the semifinals.

After he was no longer nominated for the national relay in 2013 after weaker results, he improved again after changing coach in 2014, won his third German championship title over 400 meters in Ulm and ran the second-best time of his career in 45.63 s. At the European Championships in Zurich , he reached sixth place in the final and thus his best result in international championships in individual. With the relay, he also finished sixth as a starting runner.

Gaba is a trained offset printer. From October 2005 he is a member of the Bundeswehr as a regular soldier . From 2011 he started for the LG Stadtwerke München and trained there under Daniel Limburger until 2013, as he did in Frankfurt, since 2014 Volker Beck has been his trainer.

Kamghe Gaba had a competition weight of 96 kg with a height of 2.02 m.

In 2016 Gaba ended his sporting career. He was then a Club General Manager Trainee at Fitness First ; In 2020 he worked as a studio manager at the Munich fitness studio chain Fit Star .
