The TS Esslingen 1890 ( Turnerschaft Esslingen ) is a sports club from the Baden-Württemberg city of Esslingen . It offers the sports Badminton , Fistball , flag football , handball , karate , athletics , skiing , tai chi , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics , volleyball and walking and has a song - and a hiking group.
The club was founded in 1964 as a merger of the two predecessor clubs Turnerbund Esslingen (founded in 1890) and Turngemeinde Esslingen (founded in 1896).
Handball
The gymnastics association is known nationwide for its handball department, whose men competed in both field and indoor handball.
In the hall, the TS Esslingen was the South German champion in 1968; the subsequent promotion games against the Charlottenburger HC decided the TS with 21:16 and 21:22 for themselves, whereby they were promoted to the handball Bundesliga .
