The Charlottenburger Handball Club ( CHC ) is a sports club founded in 1929 from the Berlin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf . In addition to the eponymous handball , the club also offers badminton , football , gymnastics , tennis , gymnastics and volleyball .

Handball

The CHC is known nationwide for its handball department. Their men took first place in the Berlin state / regional championship in the final round of the German field handball championship in 1960 . After they were able to prevail in the preliminary round with an 18:15 win after extra time against TSV Zuffenhausen , they were eliminated in the intermediate round with 8:17 against VfL Wolfsburg .

In the hall, the CHC failed as Berlin champions in 1968 and 1969 in the promotion games to the Bundesliga at the gymnastics club Esslingen and the TV Großwallstadt. In addition, the greatest success so far was participation in the main round of the DHB Cup in the 1982/83 season . There, the Charlottenburg eliminated in the first round by a 20:22 defeat against Berliner SV 1892 .

The Charlottenburg player Harald Gleinig was one of three West Berlin handball players who belonged to the joint team of DHB and DHV in 1958 , which came third at the World Cup in the GDR .
