Monika Merl , née Monika Gradzki (born September 21, 1979 in Sztum , Poland ) is a former German athlete .

Life

She achieved her greatest success by winning the German championships from 2005 to 2007 over 800 meters . In 2004 and 2008 she became German indoor champion. Internationally she was able to reach fifth place at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid in 2005 . In the same year she also took part in the World Championships in Helsinki and in 2006 in the European Championships in Gothenburg .

Monika Merl is 1.72 m tall and had a competition weight of 55 kg. It started for MSV Duisburg , TV Wattenscheid , LG Olympia Dortmund and again for Wattenscheid. Merl is a technical draftsman and industrial clerk. In 2006 she became a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr . In 2008 she married the former athlete Holger Merl. Due to health problems, she was unable to take part in competitions for a long time. In 2010 she became a mother. In 2013 she ended her career.
