Carolin Walter (born February 29, 1988 in Karlsruhe ) is a German athlete who specializes in long sprints and the middle distance and also runs relays .

career path

Walter is a graduate meteorologist and doctoral candidate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), (also called “Universität Karlsruhe”), at the Institute for Meteorology and Climate Research - Department of Tropospheric Research (IMK-TRO).

Athletic career

Carolin Walter took 6th place in the U20 Junior World Championships in 2006 with the 4 x 400 meter relay . In 2007 she was U20 runner-up in the 400-meter run at both the German Youth Indoor Championships and the German Youth Championships . In 2008 she won the championship title in the junior class with the 4 x 400 meter relay at the German U23 championships and in 2009 was German university champion in the hall over 400 meters and later university vice champion over 800 meters . Walter was quite successful in the 400 meters and in the 400 meter relay until 2009, but after protracted injuries she turned more to the 800 meters.

2012 turned out to be a very successful year for Walter. First she became German university champion in the hall over 800 meters, then German hall champion at this distance with a championship record. At the German University Championships, Walter won the 400 and 800 meter titles and was German champion in the women's age group at the German Youth Championships with the 3 x 800 meter relay .

In 2014 Walter was again able to become German champion with the 4 x 400 meter relay and German runner-up over 800 meters. With the 3-by-800-meter relay, she again won the championship title in the age group (AK) of women within the framework of the German Youth Championships .

In 2015 she won the title again at the German championships with the 4 x 400 meter relay, took 3rd place over 800 meters and was runner-up in the women's age group at the German youth championships .

2016 started for Walter with a German indoor record of 6: 22.59 min in the 3 x 800 meter relay with Rebekka Ackers and Lena Klaassen in the women's class at the German Youth Championships . She won the runner-up title at the German indoor championships over 800 meters, outdoors with the 3-by-800-meter relay and at the German championships with the 4-by-400-meter relay.

In 2017 Walter again improved the German indoor record over 3 x 800 meters in the AK women with Sarah Schmidt and Konstanze Klosterhalfen by just under six seconds to 6: 16.25 minutes in the German Youth Indoor Championships (U20) . With a personal best of 53.60 s, she was German vice indoor champion over 400 meters and also came in 6th place with a personal best at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Walter is not in the squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) .

Club affiliations

Carolin Walter has started for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen since 2010 . Before that she started for the LG Karlsruhe . The parent club is the SVK Beiertheim . Although at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, she has been training with the Beiertheim athletes again since 2012. At the university championships, she competed for the "Competitive Community of Karlsruhe Universities" (WG Karlsruhe) and for the "University of Karlsruhe".

Honors
