The 59th German Indoor Athletics Championships took place from February 25th to 26th in the Europahalle in Karlsruhe . Karlsruhe was the host for the seventh time.
The men's 4 x 200 meter relay from TV Wattenscheid ran a German record. Björn Otto won the pole vault with a championship record, as did Carolin Walter over 800 meters. Cathleen Tschirch over 200 meters and David Storl in the shot put took over the top of the European rankings with their performances.
For the first time, the 4 x 400 meter relay was no longer in the program.
Outsourced competitions
The all- round competitions were held on January 28th and 29th in the Helmut-Körnig-Halle at the German Indoor All-Around Championships in Dortmund. The 3 x 1000 meter relays competed on February 19 as part of the German Youth Indoor Championships in Sindelfingen.
