The Church Service in the Country (KDL) is the specialist service for the areas of rural areas and agriculture in the House of Church Services of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Hanover . Since 2009 the KDL has been working in Faculty 6 of the House of Church Services.

history

The development of the church service in the country goes back to the village church movement during the imperial era. In the Weimar Republic, the first rural folk high schools based on the Danish model emerged . In the 1950s, the Working Group for Village Church Service was founded in the EKD . In 1959, the regional church of Hanover founded its own working committee for church service in the countryside, which was settled in the Office for Community Service (today: House of Church Services). The service is responsible for all questions on the subject of agriculture, the situation of farming families as well as parish and regional development in rural areas. The KDL takes up problems and questions in topics such as the development of church and community life in the village, organic agriculture, livestock husbandry, sustainability, landscape protection, nature conservation, handling of natural resources, genetic engineering or animal ethics. He issues opinions, maintains contact with those responsible in the companies, associations, politics and society and advises the governing bodies of the regional church. He works closely with other offices in the regional church, u. a. the environmental officer of the regional church. The KDL creates work materials, brochures, work aids and handouts. The state pastor of the KDL and a graduate engineer are available as speakers.

The church service in the countryside is networked nationwide via the EKD (ADL) committee for church service in the countryside .
