The 39th German Indoor Athletics Championships took place on February 8th and 9th in front of 8,000 spectators in the Europahalle in Karlsruhe . Karlsruhe was the host for the second time.
Heike Henkel won the high jump with a new German record. The championships were overshadowed by the doping affair surrounding Katrin Krabbe and Grit Breuer , who obtained their right to start with an injunction.
