Oliver-Sven Buder

Oliver-Sven Buder (born June 23, 1966 in Steinheidel-Erlabrunn ) is a former German athlete who was one of the world's best shot putters from the 1990s to 2000 . The highlights of his career were the World Athletics Championships in 1997 and 1999 , where he won the silver medal. Until 1990 he started for the GDR .

Oliver-Sven Buder grew up in Niederlungwitz ( Saxony ). He began as a child with athletics, was discovered as a talent and sent to the children's and youth sports school in Karl-Marx-Stadt (later Chemnitz).

It started in the GDR era for SC Karl-Marx-Stadt (renamed SC Chemnitz in 1990). After the end of the GDR he switched to TV Wattenscheid (coach: Günther Stolz , Miroslav Jasinski ), in 2001 to MTV Ingolstadt (coach: Joachim Lipske ). In his active days he was 2.00 m tall and weighed 125 kg.

Oliver-Sven Buder began studying mining engineering in 1986. After the end of the GDR, he broke it off. He later began training as a bank clerk and then switched to an industrial clerk. Oliver-Sven Buder is divorced. In 2003 he ended his active track and field career after a long injury break.

For the America's Cup 2007 he changed the sport and started as a grinder for the German campaign United Internet Team Germany in the sailing crew around Jesper Bank .
