Klaus Bodenmüller

Klaus Bodenmüller (born September 6, 1962 in Feldkirch ) is a former Austrian athlete from Rankweil in Vorarlberg . With a height of 1.94 m, his competition weight was 112 kg.

Bodenmüller still holds the Austrian records in the shot put with 21.03 m (1991, indoor) and 20.79 m (1987, open air) and is one of the most successful athletes in Austrian track and field history.

At the Olympic Games in 1988 he was eliminated in qualifying as 16th. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , he finished sixth with 20.48 m.

At the World Athletics Championships in 1987 he reached seventh place with 20.41 m. In the hall, Bodenmüller won silver at the World Indoor Championships in 1991 in Seville with 20.42 m; His long-term training partner, the Swiss Werner Günthör , won gold here .

Bodenmüller achieved his greatest international successes at the European Indoor Championships. After two fourth places in 1987 and 1988, he won gold in Glasgow in 1990 with 21.03 m. Two years later in Genoa he won bronze again with a width of 19.99 m.
